Meet the Candidates

Mr. Nicolas Volpicelli

Since moving to Millburn 13 years ago, I have been a recreation league soccer coach, currently serve as the Committee Chairman for Cub Scout Pack 17 at Saint Rose, am a member of the Guy R. Bosworth American Legion Post and am in my final year as the President of the Board at The Racquets Club of Short Hills.  My wife, Christa, is also very active in town as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and a two-time Odyssey of the Mind Coach while maintaining her job as a Managing Director in Investment Banking.

I was born at Overlook Hospital, the son of an Italian American from Brooklyn and an immigrant from France, and raised in Chatham, where my parents still live.  I attended public schools in Chatham and attained the rank of Eagle Scout.  After graduating from The University of Michigan with an Aerospace Engineering degree, I served five years as a Nuclear Engineering Officer in the United States Navy.

After I received my MBA from The University of Michigan, I began a 17-year career as a strategy consultant with McKinsey and later Booz, reaching the Partnership of Booz & Company.  During my consulting career, I helped many businesses around the world deal with their most pressing issues and did so with a collaborative, fact-based approach.

My interest in public service began with military service but continued upon my return to New Jersey.  In 2010, I was selected as one of sixty Fellows for the year-long Lead New Jersey program which exposed me to the issues facing the state across topics such as health & human services, the economy, corrections, the arts, and education in a dynamic setting with a diverse range of viewpoints represented by my peer fellows.  While the Fellows did not always agree on issues, discussions were always respectful and open-minded.

I plan to bring a respectful, open-minded, bi-partisan problem-solver approach to Millburn’s Township
